July 1-2, 2005; East St. Louis and St. Louis communities come together to lay to rest the ancestors that suffered the 1917 East St. Louis Race Riots.

The Illinois preservation Agency estimates some five hundred properties in Illinois are associated with the Underground railroad..many are in poor condition.

Gov. Blagojevish brings opportunity Returns to Southwestern Illinois. It consists of 5 primary goals to address economic and workforce development.

Lifting the Legacy: Tribute to Miles

Please save the date, May 26th, 2006 for the "Lifting the Legacy": Miles, Mo' Music & Juneteenth Jazz Concert. Miles Davis would be 80 this year and we are going to party like nobody's business as we raise funds for future heritage projects!!! East St. Louis' trumpet extraordinaire Russell Gunn will be our featured artist along with National Juneteenth organizer Dr. Ron Myers. (www.juneteenthjazz.com) as guest artist.

Notices are forthcoming, but please start passing the word. We will need volunteers! Lincolnites take notice; this is the perfect opportunity for a "school" reunion!!! Russell is playing with super talented Lincoln alums that you all know and love. Donations, sponsorships, ads and or booths (very limited) for your organization are encouraged. Miles Davis grew up in East St. Louis. We've requested to rename the street the house stands on for this occasion. In addition, Russell will conduct "Trumpet Call: A Master Class for young and aspiring people in love with the trumpet and the music it produces. We are also working on a Dist. 189 in-school workshop.

We've also been invited to the Show Me Window on Monday, May 22.

The show starts at 3PM, but those helping us should be there by 2:30.
